About the position

We are looking for a thoughtful, empathic UX Designer with strong design competency, passionate about all phases of the UX design loop. You will help create a simple but flexible and scalable UI toolkit to build seamless experiences for interacting with our services.

This toolkit will underpin an evolving design system with the aim of improving usability, communication and consistency across the services. You will play a crucial role in improving the solution’s core functionality, identifying new functionality that adds value and helping the company reach its ambitious goals. 

The design team is growing and plays an important role in the future success of Admincontrol. The team is responsible for the design of all services on Web, iOS and Android and are working in an iterative process within an agile framework. The team is using Figma to bring the product vision to life.

You will join a cross‑functional service delivery team as a fully integrated member, contributing to every stage of the product development process: from user research and interviews, through opportunity mapping and ideation, all the way to delivery. You will carry the flag for our users and ensure our offerings are intuitive, accessible and user-friendly. Every decision made in each team affects everything else in our system, and thus the ability to communicate across different teams and think on a macro level is critical to our success.

Responsibilities and tasks

• Perform assessments for identifying UX problems, improvements and possibilities.

• Conduct user research together with the team using different discovery methodologies to understand customer and end-user needs, behaviors and motivations and facilitate finding appropriate solutions.

• Test and validate ideas and solutions with stakeholders, users and customers continuously, to ensure that we are meeting our users' needs.

• Use agile methodologies, participate in daily scrum meetings, as well as plannings, groomings, reviews and retrospectives.

• Analyze, plan and prioritize UX activities in collaboration with a team consisting of product manager, product owner, developers, architects, quality assurance and other UX designers.

• Participate in the development, improvement and implementation of Admincontrol UX principles, guidelines and design system.

• Illustrate and present design ideas to your team with process flows and prototypes.

• Design UI elements and components consistent with our design system visual language.

• Adhere to WCAG 2.2 standards, targeting AA compliance.

• Aid in increasing design awareness and maturity by participating in company-wide presentations and workshops.

Skills and experience

• Higher education (minimum 3 years) in user experience design, interaction design, behavioral sciences, industrial design or similar.

• Experience may compensate for a lack of formal education in the area. 

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in user-centered design and methodology as well as interface design.

• Good communication and facilitation skills.

• Understanding of best practices with regard to customer interviews and user testing.

• Ability to transform customer processes and needs into consistent solutions and improvements.

• Ability to change and adapt to new demands and expectations in the role.

• Detailed understanding of team dynamics throughout software development lifecycle processes including agile & lean development.

• Ability to work in a flexible environment that values innovation.

• Eagerness to collaborate with other designers who will challenge you.

• Soft skills like communication, collaboration and empathy are just as important as technical ability.

• Norwegian language proficiency is a plus (for customer interviews and user testing).
